Salamanca Risk Management operates a 24/7/365 operations room which is manned by crisis response professionals. Each client is allocated a dedicated emergency hotline number which they can call from any location worldwide and get through to a member of our team. Salamanca Risk Management's London headquarters, supported by our global offices, will respond immediately with suitable advice and action plan. These issues could range from sending out one of our specialist security consultants, or merely emailing a copy of your passport to the local embassy.
One of Salamanca Risk Management's clients travelled to Kenya on holiday with his wife and two young children. While they were staying in Nairobi the client decided that he'd like to visit some old friends in Karen (a district of Nairobi). The family were travelling into the highlands the next day so they had their own Toyota Land Cruiser and no driver. The client thought that he knew the way to Karen but on the way he soon became lost in the Kibera shanty town.
After half an hour of driving deeper into the shanty town the client became concerned and telephoned the Salamanca Emergency Hotline. He was immediately connected to the Private Clients Manager who had carried out the Security Assessment of his trip and had assisted the family in their pre- trip planning. Using the Salamanca tracking function (see Tracking Dependants and Assets) the manager was able to locate the client's exact location and guide him, over the phone, out of the shanty town.
The client was concerned that he had been followed out of the shanty town by a local vehicle. While still talking to the client and directing his vehicle, the manager contacted a Salamanca Risk Management Security Consultant in Nairobi and sent him to the Muthaiga Club. The client was then guided back to the Muthaiga Club where the consultant met him and his family and remained with them for the rest of their time in Nairobi.
